Definition
An abalone is a type of marine snail belonging to the genus Haliotis, known for its flattened, ear-shaped shell. ๐ The inside of the shell is lined with beautiful, iridescent nacre, or mother-of-pearl. Abalones are herbivores, feeding on algae in coastal waters. They are considered a delicacy in many cultures and are also prized for their shells. They are like the unicorns of the sea.
