Definition
Acrogenic describes something that grows or develops at the apex or tip of a structure. Imagine a plant 🪴 with a flower blooming right at the very top of its stem; that's acrogenic growth. It’s often used in botany and mycology (the study of fungi). Unlike growth from the base or sides, acrogenic growth is concentrated at the terminal point. Think of a stalactite forming in a cave 🪨, always adding material to its tip. It contrasts with growth that occurs throughout the entire structure.
