Definition
Amazon ants, belonging to the *Polyergus* genus, are specialized slave-making ants known for their aggressive raiding behavior. These ants are highly specialized predators that depend entirely on the labor of captured ants from other species. They have sickle-shaped mandibles that are perfect for piercing the skulls of enemy ants during raids. They are incapable of feeding themselves or caring for their own young. Think of them as the Vikings of the ant world, pillaging for resources and labor.
