Definition
Ameiuridae is the taxonomic family that includes North American freshwater catfishes, commonly known as bullhead catfishes. These fish are generally smaller and more robust than other catfish species. Unlike some of their larger cousins, they are often found in smaller streams and ponds. Think of them as the freshwater equivalent of street cats β adaptable and resourceful. They play an important role in their ecosystems, consuming insects, crustaceans, and other small organisms.
