Anasa tristis, commonly known as the squash bug, is a true bug notorious for attacking squash and pumpkin plants. These pests suck sap from leaves, stems, and fruits, weakening and potentially killing the plant. They are brownish-black and about 1/2 inch long. Squash bugs emit a foul odor when crushed, which is a defense mechanism. Imagine them as tiny vampires feasting on your veggie garden. 🧛♂️
