Definition
Anomalopteryx is an extinct genus of moa, flightless birds native to New Zealand. These birds were relatively small compared to other moa species, standing about a meter tall. They were herbivores, feeding on plants and foliage. Imagine them as the hobbits of the moa world β smaller, but still mighty! Their extinction was likely due to hunting by early MΔori and habitat loss. Unlike their larger cousins, they probably had a wider distribution.
