Definition
An apadana is a large hypostyle hall, most famously associated with Persian palaces of the Achaemenid Empire. These halls were vast, with numerous columns supporting a flat roof. They were used for audiences, ceremonies, and royal receptions. Think of it as the ancient Persian equivalent of a modern-day convention center or grand ballroom. The most famous example is found in Persepolis. The apadana showcased the empire's wealth, power, and architectural prowess.ποΈ
