The 'Babinski reflex' is a specific neurological response elicited by stroking the sole of the foot. 🦶 In infants, it's normal for the big toe to extend upwards, and the other toes to fan out. In adults, the normal response is for the toes to curl downwards. It helps assess the function of the nervous system. It is also called the plantar reflex. Named after neurologist Joseph Babinski. 👨⚕️ It is an indicator of central nervous system function.
