Definition
The Bay of Ob is a large gulf located in northern Russia, specifically within the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. It's formed by the estuary of the Ob River, one of the world's longest rivers, as it flows into the Arctic Ocean's Kara Sea. This bay is characterized by its shallow waters and harsh Arctic climate, rendering it ice-bound for much of the year. Navigation is challenging, usually limited to the summer months. The area is sparsely populated, primarily by indigenous groups who rely on fishing and hunting. Think of it like a giant river mouth expanding into a frigid sea.
