Definition
Bedřich Smetana was a Czech composer who is celebrated as the father of Czech music. He's best known for his opera 'The Bartered Bride' and his set of symphonic poems titled 'Má Vlast' ('My Country'). 'The Moldau' (Vltava), the second poem from 'Má Vlast', is perhaps his most famous individual work. His music often reflects Czech national identity. Think of him as a musical patriot expressing love for his country.
