Definition
A 'bird of prey,' also known as a raptor, is a bird that primarily hunts and feeds on other animals. ðĶ These birds possess sharp, hooked beaks, strong talons, and excellent eyesight, adaptations that aid in capturing and consuming their prey. Eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls are all examples of birds of prey. They occupy the top of the food chain in many ecosystems. Think of them as the apex predators of the bird world, always on the lookout for their next meal.
