Brazzaville is the capital and largest city of the Republic of the Congo. It's located on the Congo River, directly across from Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Brazzaville is a major economic, administrative, and cultural center. The city's history is intertwined with French colonialism and the legacy of Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, after whom it is named. The city plays a vital role in Central African commerce and transportation.
