Definition
A caboose is a railroad car attached to the end of a freight train, historically used as a crew compartment. It served as an office, living quarters, and observation platform for the train crew. The crew monitored the train for any problems from the caboose. Modern trains often don't have cabooses, as their functions are now handled electronically. Think of it like the train's "end boss" controlling things from the back. Today, cabooses are mostly seen in railway museums or on tourist trains.
