Definition
'Cecal' (or 'caecal') refers to the cecum, which is a pouch-like structure at the beginning of the large intestine. It's essentially a biological dead end. Think of it as a small pocket connected to where the small intestine meets the large intestine. In some animals, it plays a role in digesting plant matter, but in humans, its function is limited. The appendix is attached to the cecum. 'Cecal' simply means "relating to the cecum."
