Definition
Cephalotaxus is a genus of evergreen shrubs and small trees, commonly called plum-yews. They are native to Asia and are known for their shade tolerance. Their seeds resemble small plums, giving them their common name. Unlike most conifers, they don't have true cones, but instead have fleshy coverings around their seeds. They are the cool, low-key relatives of pines and firs. They add elegance to gardens and natural landscapes ๐ฟ.
