A coccygeal nerve is the last spinal nerve, emerging from the very end of the spinal cord at the coccyx (tailbone). Typically, there is only one pair. Think of it as the caboose of the spinal nerve train! ð It provides sensory information from the skin around the coccyx. It might also play a role in pelvic floor muscle function. Damage is rare but can cause tailbone pain.
