Definition
'Daddy longlegs' is a common name for several different arachnids with exceptionally long, thin legs. Most often, it refers to harvestmen (Opiliones), which are not spiders. However, the name can also sometimes refer to cellar spiders (Pholcidae), which ARE spiders. They are typically harmless to humans. Their legs are so long and fragile, they can detach as a defense mechanism. 🦵 Be careful not to confuse them with spiders!
