Definition
A damselfly is a delicate, winged insect similar to a dragonfly but typically smaller and with a more slender body. Unlike dragonflies, damselflies hold their wings closed above their bodies when at rest. They are often found near ponds and streams, gracefully flitting among the vegetation. Think of them as the ballerinas of the insect world, elegant and light. They are predators, both as larvae and adults, feeding on smaller insects. 🦋 If dragonflies are fighter jets, damselflies are nimble acrobatic planes.
