Dermochelys is the genus of the leatherback sea turtle, the only surviving species in its family. These turtles are giants of the sea, known for their massive size and distinctive lack of a bony shell. Instead, they have a leathery skin covering their carapace. Imagine them as the goth turtles of the ocean, ditching the traditional shell for a tough, flexible alternative. They roam vast distances in search of jellyfish, their primary food source. They are truly unique and fascinating creatures, unlike any other sea turtle.
