A diastema is a space or gap between two teeth, most commonly the upper front incisors. It can occur for various reasons, including a mismatch between the size of the teeth and the jawbone. Sometimes it's caused by a labial frenum (the tissue connecting the lip to the gum) that's too thick. A diastema is usually harmless and often considered a cosmetic issue. Some people find it charming and unique, while others seek orthodontic treatment to close the gap. It's all about personal preference!
