Definition
Dropsical is an older term describing a condition characterized by an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the body's tissues or cavities, similar to edema. Think of it as extreme swelling caused by fluid overload. It was commonly used before more precise medical terms were available. Often a symptom of underlying health problems like heart or kidney failure. Now largely replaced by 'edematous' or 'edema'. Itβs important in understanding medical history and older literature.
