Definition
An endodontist is a dentist who specializes in treating the inside of your teeth, particularly the pulp. The pulp contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed (often due to deep decay or injury), an endodontist performs a root canal. They remove the infected pulp, clean the inside of the tooth, and seal it to prevent further infection. Think of them as the plumbers of your teeth, fixing internal leaks and blockages. πͺ
