Definition
The family Anomiidae consists of saltwater clams known as jingle shells or saddle oysters. ๐ These clams are characterized by their thin, often translucent, shells. Imagine them as the ocean's stained glass. Unlike typical clams, they attach to surfaces using a byssal thread passing through a hole in one valve. They are found worldwide and add diversity to marine ecosystems. The fragile shells are often used in decorations.
