Family Sialidae is a taxonomic grouping of insects known as alderflies. These insects are part of the order Megaloptera and are related to dobsonflies and fishflies. The larvae of Sialidae are aquatic and predatory, found in streams, ponds, and other freshwater habitats. The adult alderflies are typically smaller and less conspicuous than dobsonflies. They represent the diversity within the Megaloptera order.
