The fanaloka (Fossa fossana), also known as the Malagasy civet, is a small carnivorous mammal. It's endemic to Madagascar and belongs to the family Eupleridae. Fanalokas are smaller and less specialized predators than fossas. They have a slender body and a long, bushy tail. They are primarily nocturnal, hunting small animals and insects. The fanaloka plays a role in Madagascar's ecosystem.
