Definition
Filoviridae is a family of viruses known for their filamentous (thread-like) structure. These viruses are responsible for causing severe hemorrhagic fevers in humans and primates. The most well-known members are Ebola virus and Marburg virus. Imagine them as highly dangerous, thread-like pathogens causing extreme illness. Transmission often occurs through contact with infected bodily fluids. Outbreaks are rare but can have devastating consequences, requiring strict infection control measures.
