Definition
Flatfoot, also known as pes planus, is a condition where the arch of your foot collapses, causing the entire sole to touch the ground. π£ Everyone has flat feet when they are babies. Flexible flatfoot is normal in babies and toddlers because their arches haven't fully developed yet. For most people, the arch develops in childhood, but for some, it never does. Having flat feet is usually painless, but sometimes it can lead to foot, ankle, or knee pain. Think of it as the opposite of having a high arch.
