Definition
A "flying gurnard" is a fish with exceptionally large, wing-like pectoral fins that it uses for display and gliding through the water. Despite the name, it does not actually fly in the air. Think of it as a bird that swims underwater, showing off its magnificent wings. They are bottom-dwelling fish, so they are often found resting on the sea floor. They have vibrant colors and unique patterns. They are showmen of the underwater world and like putting on a show.
