Definition
Frangibility is the degree to which a material is easily broken; synonymous with brittleness or fragility. Think of tempered glass versus regular glass; regular glass has higher frangibility. It signifies the ease with which something can fracture or shatter under stress. It is not about how hard or soft something is, but how likely it is to break. Frangibility is important in engineering when selecting materials. The opposite is something like malleability or ductility (metals that bend instead of break).
