Freeze-dried food has the water removed through a process of freezing and then drying under a vacuum. Think astronaut food! 🚀 It becomes very lightweight and shelf-stable. Freeze-drying retains much of the original flavor and nutrients. The process involves freezing the food first, then lowering the pressure to allow the ice to sublimate (turn directly into vapor). It's often used for coffee, fruits, and camping meals. The result is a product that can be stored for a long time without refrigeration.
