Gaetan Vestris (1729-1808) was a renowned Italian dancer and choreographer, considered one of the greatest male dancers of his time. He was known for his exceptional technique, expressive performances, and flamboyant personality. He basically invented the idea of the prima ballerina, pushing ballet to the heights of fame and influence. Gaetan was so confident, he declared himself "the God of Dance."
