Goldenrod is a common name for plants in the genus *Solidago*, known for their bright yellow flowers that bloom in late summer and fall. These plants are often found in fields, along roadsides, and in open areas. Despite common belief, goldenrod does NOT cause hay fever; ragweed is the real culprit. The flower's vibrant color adds a splash of sunshine to the autumn landscape. It is not always appreciated, being thought of as a weed.
