He wielded immense power and influence during her reign, orchestrating military reforms and expanding the Russian Empire's territory, particularly in the Crimean Peninsula. His relationship with Catherine was both personal and political, shaping many key decisions. He was a master strategist, modernizing the Russian military and establishing new cities. Yet, he faced criticism for his lavish lifestyle and autocratic tendencies. Essentially, he was a kingmaker and power broker.
