Definition
Haemulon parra, commonly known as sailor's choice, is a type of grunt found in the western Atlantic Ocean. These fish are notable for the grunting sounds they produce by rubbing their teeth together, amplified by their swim bladder. They are typically silver-blue in color with bronze stripes, providing camouflage among coral reefs. Think of them as the choir singers of the ocean, always tuning up. Their diet consists mainly of small invertebrates, contributing to the reef's ecological balance. They are typically about 12 inches in length, a friendly size for reef inhabitants.
