Definition
Hamito-Semitic is an outdated term that once grouped together languages from North Africa and the Middle East. Nowadays, we use 'Afro-Asiatic' or 'Afrasian' instead. Itβs like using an old map when a newer, more accurate one exists. The term is considered inaccurate because it was based on now-discredited racial theories. Imagine using a flip phone when smartphones are the norm! π± Itβs important to know that 'Hamito-Semitic' is no longer the preferred term in modern linguistics. Think of it as a historical relic in the study of language families.
