Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) was the 33rd U.S. President. He took office in 1945 after Franklin D. Roosevelt's death. 🏛️ Truman is best known for making the difficult decision to use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. His presidency also saw the start of the Cold War. He initiated the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe. Think of him as the leader who made big, controversial calls under pressure.
