Definition
Hemiparasitic describes a plant that is partially parasitic. It gets some of its nutrients from another plant (the host) but can also perform photosynthesis. Think of it as a plant that freeloads but also contributes. Unlike a full parasite, it has some independence. Imagine mistletoe growing on a tree β it's green and makes some of its food, but it also taps into the tree's resources. Itβs a mix of independence and dependence.
