Definition
"Hemmings" (often misspelled as "Hemminge") refers primarily to John Hemminges (c. 1566-1630), a key member of Shakespeare's acting company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men. Think of him as Shakespeare's stage manager and business partner rolled into one. He and Henry Condell compiled and published Shakespeare's First Folio, preserving many plays that might have otherwise been lost. He was like the ultimate Shakespeare archivist. 🎭
