Henri Rousseau (1844–1910) was a French post-impressionist painter in the Naïve or Primitive manner. Self-taught, he painted lush jungle scenes despite never leaving France. His works are characterized by their dreamlike quality and vibrant colors. He was nicknamed 'Le Douanier' (the customs officer) because of his day job. Imagine him as a visual storyteller, crafting exotic worlds from his imagination. 🎨🌴
