*Herrerasaurus* was an early carnivorous dinosaur from the Late Triassic period. It is among the oldest known dinosaurs. Imagine it as one of the first meat-eating dinosaurs. *Herrerasaurus* walked on two legs and had strong claws and teeth. It was relatively small, about 10 to 20 feet long. Fossils have been found in Argentina. Scientists consider it a key species for understanding dinosaur evolution. It helps us understand the origins of theropods.
