Definition
Hoodooism, also known simply as Hoodoo, is a traditional African American folk magic system. It developed in the Southern United States among enslaved Africans, blending African spiritual practices with European and Native American herbalism and folklore. Hoodoo focuses on practical magic for everyday problems, such as love, luck, health, and protection. It does not have priests or formal religious structures, but rather is a collection of spells, rituals, and folk remedies. Think of it as a grassroots spiritual toolbox. Hoodoo is a living tradition, passed down through generations.
