Definition
Isurus glaucus, commonly known as the blue shark, is a species of mackerel shark. These sharks are slender with long pectoral fins and are known for their remarkable speed and agility in the water. They're found in temperate and tropical oceans worldwide. Blue sharks are opportunistic predators, feeding on a variety of prey, including fish and squid. They play a vital role in marine ecosystems as apex predators. While they are occasionally caught as bycatch, they are not considered a major threat to humans.
