Ithiel Town (1784–1844) was an American architect and civil engineer. He is best known for co-patenting the Town lattice truss bridge, a lightweight and cost-effective design for wooden bridges. Think of him as a master builder 👷 of his time, creating bridges that were both strong and affordable. His lattice truss design used a network of wooden planks arranged in a diagonal pattern, making it easier to construct bridges with less skilled labor. This design revolutionized bridge building in the 19th century. Town's bridges were widely used across the United States and beyond.
