John Napier (1550-1617) was a Scottish mathematician, physicist, astronomer, astrologer, and theologian. He is most famous for his invention of logarithms, which greatly simplified calculations and advanced the fields of science and engineering. Napier also invented 'Napier's bones,' a mechanical calculating device. He represents a blend of intellectual curiosity and practical innovation, a true Renaissance man. Logarithms are still used today!
