Definition
The left ventricle is the most powerful chamber of the heart, responsible for pumping oxygenated blood to the entire body via the aorta. It receives blood from the left atrium and has the thickest walls of all the heart chambers to generate the pressure needed for systemic circulation. Think of it as the heart's primary engine, driving blood to every corner of the body. Its strong contractions ensure that organs and tissues receive adequate oxygen. Dysfunction of the left ventricle can lead to heart failure.
