Definition
The Lesser Scaup is a diving duck similar to the Greater Scaup, but smaller in size. These ducks are found in various aquatic habitats, diving to feed on plants and invertebrates. They migrate between breeding and wintering grounds, often forming large flocks. The males have a black head and breast, while females are brown. They are adaptable and can be found in both freshwater and saltwater environments. Think of them as the smaller, more agile cousins of the Greater Scaup. They are important members of their respective ecosystems.
