Miles Standish (c. 1584 β 1656) was an English military officer hired by the Pilgrims as military advisor for Plymouth Colony. He accompanied the Pilgrims on the Mayflower voyage. He played a crucial role in the early defense and survival of the colony. He was essentially their security chief π‘οΈ and a key figure in their interactions with Native Americans. Think of him as the head of security for the first Thanksgiving.
