Definition
Millenarism is virtually identical to millenarianism: the belief in a future golden age or millennium of peace and prosperity, often lasting 1,000 years. It is linked to dramatic societal changes or the return of a key religious figure. It is also a vision of a utopian society, tied to religious expectations. Think of it as a specific type of eschatology, focusing on a thousand-year period. The terms 'millenarism' and 'millenarianism' are often used interchangeably.
