Milontin is an older brand name for a medication called ethosuximide, used to treat absence seizures. It works by reducing the abnormal electrical activity in the brain that causes these seizures. Think of it as a volume control for your brain, preventing it from getting too loud and triggering a seizure. Milontin/ethosuximide is quite effective for absence seizures. It is less commonly used now, with newer alternatives available.
