Definition
The mizzen is the third mast from the front on a ship with three or more masts. It's the smallest mast, located aft (towards the back) of the mainmast. Think of it as the baby brother of the mast family. Unlike the foremast or mainmast, it primarily aids in steering and maneuvering. It's essential for balance and control, especially in windy conditions. The mizzen mast and its sails play a crucial role in a sailing vessel's performance.
